Café De Piccolo, a working document
Your brand, as we read it
The reference your home is built from. Where we have misread you, you correct it; nothing here is invented.
In your own words
You have never written a brand book. You have written these, and they are enough to build from.
- “Welcome to our Happy Place”, from your Instagram bio, and the Facebook intro.
- “Food in its purest form, Courtesy & Ethics is our norm”, from your printed menu card, under the seal (the card prints “it’s”).
- “We’re truly passionate about what we do”, from the Facebook intro, and the Roastery De Piccolo bio.
- “From the house of Café De Piccolo”, from the bios of Danke and LouLou, your sister brands.
- “Come for the food. Stay for the setting.”, from an Instagram post, autumn 2026.
- “Comfort food, served with good vibes”, from an Instagram post, autumn 2026.
- “Some places are just made for slowing down”, from an Instagram caption, September 2026.
- “Settle in and stay a while”, from an Instagram caption, September 2026.
- “A menu guided by taste and time”, from the Carte page of your Dehradun website.
What the room says
Reviewers call it a European café, a life-sized dollhouse, a mountain cottage, the streets of Italy. The photographs show the same five things.
- White-painted plank walls and a planked ceiling with exposed beams.
- A black-and-white checkerboard floor.
- A bottle-green hutch, with green frames at the windows.
- Cane and rattan chairs, floral tablecloths and floral upholstery.
- Fairy lights, bunting, framed botanical prints, a lamp on every table.
The mark
A circular seal: CAFÉ DE small above PICCOLO large, in a condensed serif, inside an ornamental ring. Stamped in sepia on your menu card, white on your Instagram avatar. On your Dehradun site, a plain caps wordmark in a Didone instead. We need the seal as vector artwork; nothing here redraws it.

Type
What you use today, verified: on your Dehradun site, Roslindale at weight 900 in capitals for every heading and Host Grotesk for every line of text; on the printed card, an ornamental Victorian display for section names and a rounded vintage serif for the rest; on Instagram, a calligraphic script for the headline and a geometric sans beneath it.
Roslindale is a commercial face from DJR. Until you license it, Bodoni Moda stands in: the same contrast and sharp serifs, open-licensed so your home can bundle it. It does titles, numbers and short leads only. Anything longer is set in Host Grotesk, the face your site already uses, because a high-contrast italic tires the eye at paragraph length on a phone. One line of script, as on your posts: the Happy Place greeting.
Display: Bodoni Moda
CAFÉ DE PICCOLO
A Didone with the contrast and sharp serifs of the wordmark your own site sets in Roslindale, and open-licensed, so your home can bundle it. Capitals for the wordmark and titles, italic for emphasis. Titles, numbers and short leads only. Seen: The CAFÉ DE PICCOLO wordmark on cafe-piccollo.shubhkarmatech.com, and the condensed serif PICCOLO inside the seal on the menu and the Instagram avatar.
Text: Host Grotesk
An Italian café on Rajpur Road, Dehradun, since 2017, and on Madhya Marg, Chandigarh, since April 2023.
The text face your Dehradun site already uses. A quiet grotesk beside the serif, readable at menu sizes on a phone. Everything longer than a title is set in it, including the quotes and the asides. Seen: The computed font-family of the small text on cafe-piccollo.shubhkarmatech.com, read 7 October 2026.
Script: Great Vibes
Welcome to our Happy Place
The open face closest to the calligraphy on your Instagram posts, used for one line only: the Happy Place greeting on the first screen. Nothing else is set in it. Seen: The “Brunch Is Served” and “Gather & Savour” posts on @cafedepiccolo, September 2026.
Colour
Why parchment and not the black of your Dehradun site: the Chandigarh room is daylight, cream wood and paper. Your home should look like your room, not like a hotel bar.
Why bottle green and not brass or terracotta: nothing in your room is brass. The hutch is the one painted colour, so it is the one accent. Lamp amber lives in the photographs and nowhere else.
- Parchment#EDE4CFsurface. Your printed menu card, photographed on Zomato: aged paper, lightened one step for screens.
- Cream#F6F0E2raised. The white-painted plank walls and ceiling in the Zomato photographs of your room.
- Ink#2B1D12text. The sepia ink your menu card is printed in.
- Faded ink#6B5A48muted text. The lighter line drawings in the margins of the card.
- Bottle green#2F5D46accent. The painted hutch and window frames in your room: the one painted colour in a cream room.
- Lamp amber#C98745photographs only. The incandescent light in the evening photographs. Never used for interface.
- Check black#1A1414the checkerboard. The dark tiles of your floor. Used once, as a band at the foot of the page, never as a background.
- Bone#E6E2D6reference, your Dehradun site. The text colour of cafe-piccollo.shubhkarmatech.com.
- Night#171415reference, your Dehradun site. The background of cafe-piccollo.shubhkarmatech.com.
Voice
- Do: Short sentences, warm, to one person. “Settle in and stay a while” is the register.
- Do: Specific dishes and first names. Your reviews already talk this way.
- Do: The Happy Place line stays yours, and stays unexplained.
- Do: Italian café words only where you already use them: Essence, Carte.
- Don’t: No discount language anywhere on your home. That is the platforms’ voice.
- Don’t: No “best in Chandigarh”. The rankings say it; your home links to them.
- Don’t: No exclamation marks, no emoji, no hashtags on the home.
- Don’t: No stock phrases: “culinary journey”, “elevated”, “curated”.
Imagery
- Your own photographs only, in the room’s warm light, with people in it.
- The signature shots, in order: the room from the door, the hutch, the floor, the front of the Madhya Marg shop, the brunch table, the coffee.
- The Instagram habits, carried over sparingly: a Polaroid frame, a torn paper edge, one at a time.
- Never stock. Your Dehradun site’s story page opens on a stock photograph of an underwater restaurant.
What we used of yours, and from where
Your seal, from an Instagram post. The kitchen shelves, the swash rule and the margin drawings, from your printed menu card, keyed out of the paper. The paper itself, from a blank corner of the card. Five photographs of the Madhya Marg room and its food, from your Zomato gallery. Everything on the case study is yours; when you send originals, they replace these.
Read on 6 and 7 October 2026 (2026-10-07) from Instagram, the menu card on Zomato, Zomato’s ordering page, Zomato’s photographs, Tripadvisor, Google Maps, District, Justdial and the Dehradun website. Part of the Café De Piccolo case study.
